* DAMON ( EWAN ) CASSELL ,
Damon had been called into the office early that morning. Apparently some form of important mission had come up which only he could do. He was groggy as he finally pulled himself out of bed, Becky was pottering about in the kitchen getting ready to go to work herself. Damon felt bad about having to lie to Becky but what could he do? He'd taken the vow to keep the secret, even though it meant lying to all of his family. "Coffee's in the pot. I have to run, I'll see you later Damon." Becky smiled, before hesitating at the door, "You're working tonight right? Will you be home for dinner?" Damon shrugged as he poured himself a coffee. "It depends on how late they keep me at the office doesnt it. I'll ring you though and let you know."
Once his coffee had been drunk, he headed into the bathroom and got his morning shower in the hopes it would awaken him a bit more. The water was only just warm but he couldnt be bothered waiting for it to heat up any more. He stayed in it for just over twenty minutes before climbing out and turning on the radio, catching a bon jovi song which he sang along with as he towel dried his hair and got himself dressed. He glanced in the mirror once he was ready and nodded. He'd do. He was wearing dark jeans, a white sleevless shirt and his black leather jacket. Picking up his car keys he headed out of the door and down the path to his Merc.
He didnt know what the office had in store for him today, but the message delivier sounded pretty damn excited about it and for some reason that worried Damon. He turned the key in the ignition and it purred to life. Smiling, he found his favourite radio station before turning the car out of the road and down one of the busiest streets in Manchester. The built in comms system which the Spectre's installed in his car suddenly flared to life. "Damon where are you?" Damon smiled "I'm on my way in now. Traffics a nightmare right now I'll be there as soon as I can." The comms system went off and his radio seemed to turn itself up.
Turning down a side street, Damon decided to take the longer route, but in this traffic it would be much shorter and soon enough he was parking in his usual spot outside the Spectres base. Walking in, he took off his jacket and made his way into the intelligence area, hearing the usual sounds of people tapping on the keyboards, he walked over to the end where a file was shoved into his hands. He sat down on one of the chairs and opened it...
A girl.
Damon looked at the picture for a while. She was very beautiful there was no denying that but what could they want with her? "Reese Mackenzie." Someone informed him, although he'd just gotten to her name, age and all the usual information. "We've been keeping tabs on her for months now. We've gained a lot of info on her and we are absolutely certain she has ties to the Vampires." Damon looked up, his brows furrowing over his smoky blue eyes. "She's a vampire?" "No, she's human. But she's been spotted hanging around with a Vampire. She lives with her friend Haven Raines too." Damon closed the file and looked up. "We need you get close to her." Damon looked at him, a questioning look in his eyes as if to say why. "She's our way to the Vampires. If you can get close to her, you'll get close to the Vampire with her and eventually the entire clan, Damon." "You want me to use her?" Damon sounded disgusted. But he knew he had to, what the bosses said goes at the end of the day. "Do whatever it takes. Wine her and dine her. Sleep with her... do whatever just dont fall in love with her. It'll only make your job harder if you do." "No worries about that. I dont do love." The boss smiled. "I know, that's why we chose you. Dont let us down Damon."
He'd been given the target information and where to be at what time. He was waiting. His gun by his belt, finally he caught sight of her and began following her. He knew the Vampires and Lycan's were on the prowl tonight and as he followed her it all happened very quickly. A young, rabid Lycan jumped down infront of her and was about to pounce on her. He fired his car into life and drove headlong into the Lycan. He flung open the passenger side door beside her, "Get in!" He called. He wasnt sure if the Lycan had scratched her or anything, right now he wasnt focusing on that as it came running back. The lycan jumped on the front of his car. "If that thing dents my car or scratches it I'll kill the bastard!" He kicked the car into reverse and sped away from the creature, kicked the gears back to forward and drove straight into it. The lycan ended up flying over the top of the car as Damon sped off towards his home. "Are you alright?" He asked as he pulled onto his street. Once he was parked, he opened his door, stepped out and walked around to her door and opened it for her. "Come on, lets get you inside and get you warm." tagged , miss reese mackenziewords , nine, three, threelyrics , run this town - jay-zcredit , rora @ hos

Never walk alone when it gets dark. Always bring something sharp made out of silver. Reese had grown up under the protective wing of a vampire ‘brother’ and had learned all about what creeps around at night. Or during the day. She had learned how to defend herself, she’d learned how to fight and how to use her high heels as perfect ass kicking weapons. Which was pretty awesome but it always wrecked her shoes. Good side versus bad side probably. Now, Reese knew that vampires didn’t kill their prey and that lycans did not randomly attack. But you always had to those crazy ones who might would and it could only go wrong once. Besides, having a vampire drink from you wasn’t something Reese wanted to experience no matter she would survive or not.
There was however another risk why she needed to watch out for lycans more than for vampires. And that risk was named Dane Matthews. Reese had an instant link with the vampires and that could trigger some anger with the lycans. Perhaps see it as a way in for them to. A way to find out about vampire secrets, use her as leverage or to do whatever else they had in mind. Course Reese didn’t know much about ‘vampire secrets’. Dane knew well enough to not give her any more information that what was needed. However, the lycans did not know that. Let alone IF they knew how well connected Reese was with the vampire side.
Tonight it was a clear night and Reese was walking home after having dinner with Dane. Something they did every last Friday of the month. She wasn’t exactly sure how it had started but over the years it had become a tradition. Reese loved it. Just them alone, talking, laughing, her eating and him drinking beer. Sure, Dane could eat but he preferred beer over actual food most of the time. For a moment it felt like a safer world when he was around. That he would keep her safe like he had always done over the years. Some would probably call her mental for loving her vampire brother that much but Reese trusted him the most from anyone she knew. Unconditional love did exist.
As always Dane had wanted to drive her home just like he always came to pick her up at home. But apparently he was needed by his vampire family and needed to get there as fast as possible. So, Reese had told him to go and that she would get herself home safely. She was 22 for crying out loud. Not a 10 year old girl. Course Dane hadn’t liked it but had finally caved and hugged her good night before he got in his car and drove off. However, Reese hadn’t been walking for more than five minutes before her phone went off.
Grabbing her cell from her purse she smiled and answered the call. “Dude, I’m fine. See, still alive.” Rolling her eyes she swung her purse back over her shoulder and crossed the street. “No, I’m not taking a cab. It’s like a fifteen minute walk and I want some fresh air.” Reese loved Dane for watching over her but sometimes he was bit too protective if you asked her. “Honey I love you but go do your family stuff. This is Manchester not New York or LA. “ Then her voice fell silent when Dane replied again on the other side of the line. “Yeah I know. You be careful too. Come see me when you’re done okay?” Ending the call, Reese put her phone back in her purse and turned a corner.
Then from the small park on the other side of the street Reese though she heard something growl. She froze and her eyes scanned the area. A chill running down her spine as she had the feeling something, or someone, was watching her. Great, thanks Dane! Now she was getting paranoid cause he always needed to be so damn protective. Then suddenly a few bushes moved and then all was quiet again. “Is someone there?” she called out, but the only thing that answered her was silence itself. Letting out a deep sigh and shaking her head, Reese continued her way home. “Thanks Dane, remind me to smack you on the back of the head the next time for this.” This was ridiculous, really.
A howl and the sound of nails scraping over the stones of the street was what made Reese freeze for a second time. Within a split second a large black wolf had rushed out of the bushes between the trees and had jumped right in front of Reese. Her eyes widened and all she could for do for a moment was just stare wide eyed at the creature. Oh fuck. This was not good. SO not good. As it growled at her it slowly revealed it’s white teeth. Thinking straight was the last thing Reese was able to do right now so she just stood there as the wolf started to approach her.
What happened next went all by so fast Reese wasn’t sure if she was dreaming or if this was actually happening. She screamed when the Lycan suddenly jumped towards her. Raising her arms in a reflex Reese didn’t fully see how the lycan crashed into a car. It howled from pain and flew though the air, landing on top of a bench that broke in half. Then out of nowhere a voice called for her to get in? Get in what? It took a second before Reese realized what had just happened when she heard the still running engine of the car standing besides her. Without thinking twice she got in the car, shut the door and screamed again when the lycan leaped back to land on top of the car. “Drive!!” she yelled at whoever her saviour was. Apparently he agreed, sending the lycan flying a second time, as he drove off. What the fuck had just happened?! Reese let her head rest against her seat and closed her eyes for a moment, catching her breath. “Yeah. Yeah I’m fine. Thank you.” She replied, opening her eyes and letting them wander over the person sitting next to her. He didn’t seem so shocked about this did he?
Getting out of the car Reese let her eyes wander over the stranger again. “Who are you?” It struck her as odd that he was so calm about all of this. She knew about lycans herself but she’d never been up close with one before till now. And to be honest, that was kinda scary! But this guy seemed too alright with it. As if it was nothing, as if he wasn’t surprised to see a huge wolf in the middle of Manchester. Still she followed him to the house as standing here out in the open didn’t seem such a good idea. Following a stranger into his house was probably not a good thing either but it did beat the alternative knowing that they might have been followed.

* DAMON ( EWAN ) CASSELL ,
Damon wasnt surprised to see a Lycan at the scene. Though, he'd been racking his brains trying to figure out how to get in her life part of him thanked the Lycan. At least he wouldnt have to try other ways. The only point now was explaining how he wasnt at all shaken by the experiance without letting out his secret about belonging to the Spectres. Afterall, they were a secret organisation and he'd been told not to tell Reese about what he does. He didnt like lying to people, but he knew it was necessary.
He didnt say anything else in the car. It was his way of giving her private time with her thoughts afterall. He knew that this would be an experiance for her, but he knew that also, she knew of the exsistance. The problem was though, since she knew of them why hadnt she tried defending herself? The thing would have ripped her to pieces if he hadnt turned up. His brow furrowed as he pondered this. He couldnt understand it even though he was trying to. Maybe she had a death wish, after all, hanging around with Vampires was startling enough. Leeches. He thought poisonously to himself.
Once the car stopped he stepped out. His phone beeped and he removed it from his pocket. Damon its Bex. I'll be working late tonight so I wont be home till tomorrow! Love you xxx He looked over to Reese and smiled and waved his phone at her. "My sister. She wont be home tonight... which is good I wont have to explain what a strange girl's doing in the house." Damon began to walk up the path, but stopped when a question was put to him.
"I'm the guy that's just saved your life." The way she said it was as though she was suspicious of him. He sighed and pocketed his phone again. He hadnt had time to process a fake name, but there could be no harm in giving her his real one. Afterall, she wouldnt be able to dig anything up on him would she? "My name is Damon," He said as he reached the door, twisting the key in the lock and stepping though into the large hallway. "You gonna stand out there all night?" Although, as he asked she'd already stepped over the threshold. Fair enough. He looked up and down the darkened street but he couldnt see anyone or anything.
Walking into the kitchen he poured her a nice strong whisky. "Drink it.. even if you dont drink trust me it'll help." He pushed the glass into her hands and shrugged off his coat, placing it over the back of the chair he sat on. Pulling out his phone he looked back across to her. "Anyone I can call for you? Friends, family?" Damon wasnt used to such situations, but he knew she lived with her friend Haven so maybe Reese would want Haven to pick her up from here or something. However, he couldnt tell her that he knew a lot about her now could he?

Dane was going to freak about this. Reese knew it the moment she was able to think clearly again after catching a few deep breaths. And she couldn’t say she wasn’t a bit freaked with this either. Never had she been attacked by a lycan before, at least not like this. This was uncommon and because Reese knew that, it was somewhat disturbing to say the least. Over the years she’d seen lycans in both human form and wolf form. Hell she’d even had a fling with one –something she’d always kept a secret for the obvious reason her brother was a vampire-. But never had she been eye to eye with one like this. Not under these circumstances.
Reese just nodded faintly when she got out of the car and her saviour mentioned something about his sister not being home. Right, honestly she could care less about that at this moment. She wasn’t as freaked anymore as she had been several minutes ago. Confusion was what filled her mind and a strange feeling that she was being watched. Glancing over her shoulder for a moment, there was nothing else she could see other then an empty street. Sighing Reese looked over to the house the car was parked in front of it and followed Damon towards the front door.
She rolled her eyes but still did smirk when he decided to go all corny on her and call himself the guy who just saved her life. Right, he didn’t expect for her to be charmed by that right? Oh come on. That was so something he picked up from a movie. The damsel in distress falling for the so called bad ass who saved her life. Definitely something Reese would do, but that was besides the point right now. “The guy who saved my life and a smart ass all wrapped up in one. Lucky me.” Reese smirked, looking Damon up and down once when she passed him in the hallway. Turning for a moment she smiled faintly, “I’m Reese.”
Following him into the kitchen Reese leaned against the counter, her bag still on her shoulder while her eyes wandered through the place. She wasn’t exactly sure where she was but the neighbourhood had something familiar. Like she’d been here before. Which could be true as she had been living here for years now. Maybe she’d passed through the neighbourhood while driving or something. On the outside all houses looked alike which of course wasn’t the same when it came down to interior. Damon had a nice house, not an messy apartment you would expect for a guy like him. At least, something you wouldn’t expect at first glance.
“Uh…thanks.” Taking the glass from him she looked at it. Well, if he was trying to get her drunk that would sure work with the amount of whiskey he just poured her. But she’d be lying if she’d say she couldn’t use a drink. Reese brought the glass to her lips and took two large gulps. When the burn hit her throat she closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the warmth it gave her. “Thank you…” opening her eyes again, she searched for Damon. Finding him sitting at the kitchen table. “How did you…I mean, you were just in time. How did you know I needed help? I didn’t even hear your car until you basically crashed into…” she was about to say Lycan but since Reese wasn’t sure if he knew what a lycan was she decided to use a different word, “…that thing.”
Running her finger over the rim off the glass, Reese shook her head. “No I’ll just call a cab. It’s fine, I don’t want my friends to worry over nothing.” Dane would worry and would probably be angry with her for not calling him. She’d tell him though, later tonight when she was home again. There was nothing he could do now anyway. Smiling at Damon Reese ran a faintly shaking hand through her hair. She was still a little shaken up about this although she obviously was trying to mask it by acting like this was nothing.

* DAMON ( EWAN ) CASSELL ,
Actually, Damon wasnt saying the line for a speel to get her to fall in love with him. He was stating the fact that he had saved her life, he couldnt care less if she fell for him or not. It wasnt really important to be quite honest with you. Damon turned to her when she spoke and frowned. Why did I bother? She calls me a smart arse, has she heard her tone? He shrugged as though it didnt matter. "Whatever." He said in response before she introduced herself, of course he already knew everything about her. "Damon." He slid into the kitchen chair and checked his phone again. Nothing new going on really but he half expected Page to have texted him. "Damon Cassell."
Damon wasnt happy with this whole setup. Releasing a Lycan that the Spectre's had sent mad, given it Reese's scent. It was a dangerous ploy that could have gone wrong on so many levels. Luckily it hadnt, but even so, it could have. Sacrifices have to be made for the greater good. Page had once told him. But it didnt make this any easier. He hated using someone. His phone beeped again, he had a message off his mother this time. Damon, when're you picking Rach up? He sighed and began pressing the buttons. I'll be there in about an hour. "Mum." He explained, nodding to his phone. He stood up and opened the fridge, no bottles were made but he guessed his mother had already fed Rachael. His mother was a life saver on this kind of thing. First when Rach had been dropped on his doorstep he hadnt known what the hell to do with a baby. But thanks to Becky and his mum he coped.
"What?" He asked, turning around he saw the whiskey and realised that was what she was thanking him for. "Oh, sure. No problem." He sat back down and watched her intently. Trying to figure her out, he knew she knew about the mysteries of the world, but didnt quite know how to broach it to her. "The Lycan you mean?" He smiled and shook his head. "I hunt them. Not many people know about them but they are dangerous, I try to keep them from harming people. Hobby of mine I guess and to be honest I didnt even know you needed help." Total lie but never mind. "I was tracking it, it was tracking you. It was pure chance I found you really. One of them killed a friend of mine a few years ago, thats how I know they exsist." Another lie, god he's going to have to keep on lying to her. This was going to be a pain and he felt guilty for doing it but it was his job.
He pushed his phone towards her so she could call one. Picked a piece of paper and a pen up and scribbled his number on it. "Text me when you get home, so I know you're safe." Playing the caring life-saver card. Now that is low. "You can use my phone to call a cab if you like. Are you sure you're alright... you're shaking." Whereas Damon was completely composed as though the whole situation didnt phase him at all.

Reese wasn’t a girl who expected a monster to be luring in the dark all the time. She was the girl who knew there could be a monster luring in the dark. But, she was also the girl who had some sort of big brother monster to scare away all the other monsters. Which should be something all kids wanted. Then again, her big brother was the proof of monsters existing which gave a whole new meaning to the whole ‘mommy there is a monster in my closet’ thing. Cause there could be a real monster hiding there. Which was exactly why Reese was scared of the dark. Not the kind of dark that appears when there is no light, but the dark side of the world at which all the monsters rule.
She was easy with trusting people though but she knew better than to fully trust Damon. So even if Reese was trying to relax some while sipping from her drink she kept her eyes open and didn’t let her guard down. She smiled though, when he said his name was Damon. Somehow it suited him and well, it was a sexy name for a sexy guy. But then she almost choked on the little sip of whiskey when he mentioned his last name. “Cassell?” she managed to get out between coughs. “As in big brother of Becky Cassell? No way… really?” Reese had been friends with Becky for a while now but she’d never met or seen a picture of Damon before. Patting her chest to try and get some more air her brown eyes were set on Damon once more. Well, this was a true surprise.
Fuck. Becky had such a hot brother!
At least now she knew why the neighbourhood looked so familiar. Reese had dropped Becky off at home once after a night of partying. Right, well this night was full of surprises wasn’t it? When that second surprise started to settle her eyes widened again when Damon called the monster by its true name. He knew about lycans too? Now that was getting a bit too much!! Surprise was the only emotion that reflected of Reese’s face and for a moment she had no idea what to say. “Okay hold on.” She raised both her hands and just kept them hovering at the height of her shoulders for a bit. “You know about lycans?” What the hell was up with his night already?! “And you hunt them?” Reese brought her hand up to her head and rubbed her forehead. Shaking her head a little she kept glancing to Damon. “Does Becky know about this? ” Millions of questions popped up in her mind at once and she wanted answers. Now.
“This it not going to do anymore…” she muttered softly as she looked at the glass in her hands. She was definitely going to need the entire bottle for this. Reese brought the glass to her lips again and hit the content of the glass back, swallowing hard as she put the glass down on the counter. It took a moment before the rest of his words reached her mind though. “It was tracking me? Lycans don’t track humans, there is no reason why some lycan would track me.” Course there was and Reese knew what that reason was called –Dane- but that wasn’t really relevant right now. With a bit of wobbly legs Reese sat down on a chair across from Damon.
Her hands dropped into her lap and she just there for a moment. Thinking and staring. Reese shook her head and ran her hand through her hair again. “Yeah, No…No I’m not alright. First I get attacked by a lycan, then you safe me, then I find out you’re Becky’s brother - who apparently is a lycan hunter or something- and then you tell me that thing was tracking me? While at the same time you’re just sitting there as if this all normal. Which probably to you it is, since you apparently hunt them. Honestly, that’s a bit too much for one night. ” Reese was rambling, causing her to be a bit out of breath when she was finally finished.
She watched the phone being shoved towards her along with a piece of paper. But she wasn’t touching either. Right now she wanted some answers from him first and second, now she knew it was safe here. Now that she knew he was Becky’s brother.

* DAMON ( EWAN ) CASSELL ,
Damon could see it in her eyes, she had that niggling feeling, that small sense of doubt that was telling her not to trust him. His smokey blue eyes were looking into her brown coloured ones. Both were evidentally trying to decipher eachother. Even though Damon had an ulterior motive for it, he had to make her trust him. That much was obvious. He raised a brow when she choked on her whiskey and repeated his last name. "You know my sister?" He asked, "Yeah... Becky's my kid sister. Probably about the only one in the family I can stand to be around for more than a couple of hours." Which was true, his father annoyed him just as much as his mother, always prattling on about insignificant things. It kind of irked him.
He nodded when she asked her question, he knew this would happen. He'd say something and a new round of questions would begin. He had to be quick coming up with a story for her, but luckily he already had one, and he wouldnt be lying totally with it, he'd just have to change some of the facts. "Yeah, I know about them and yes I do hunt them." As well as Vampire's but he'd leave that small fact out. "About three years ago my friend was killed by one of them. I've been on the hunting bandwagon ever since." Okay, so he'd left a lot out, like his friend was also in the Spectre's like he was and now his friend was currently running around with a fluffy problem. Damon knew one day he'd come across him and he'd have to kill him, a perk of the job he supposed. But he wasnt supposed to question orders. "No, Becky know's nothing about any of this and I would prefer it to stay that way. The less she knows the better. She'd only worry if she knew what I did anyway and she has enough on her mind."
"What's not going to do anymore?" He asked as she looked at the glass in her hand, then the lightblub flickered over Damon's head and he suddenly realised what she meant. "Oh, of course." Pushing the chair back he wandered over to the cabinet and took out the whiskey. He looked at the bottle label, it wasnt something he drank often as it was bloody expensive, you couldnt buy it in any of the shops either. Sighing, he figured he'd come up with an argument to get re-embursed for it. Turning back, he poured some more into the bottom of their glasses. Just that mouthful was worth more than Becky made in a month. Still, it was worth it. "That's not necessarily true." He shook his head. "Some Lycans will track humans. Those who dont belong to a pack with a powerful leader for instance or those who're insane and just want fresh meat. Usually, a Lycan wont track a Human but it's not unheard of." The same with Vampires, every species has their own crazies. "I know this is a lot, but I suggest until I find that Lycan that you dont go anywhere alone and do not go outside at night. Least of all to walk home, it has your scent now and will find you."
Damon sighed, honestly he didnt know how much longer he could keep this up. Apart from anything he had to pick up his daughter soon. Soon enough came the rant, Damon's brows raised over his smokey blue eyes and he had to fight all of his instincts to stop himself from bursting out laughing. "And its weird and not okay that I'm Becky's brother? She's your friend isnt she so why wouldnt it be okay?" He couldnt help it when the corners of his mouth turned up, but soon he found himself shaking his head. Yes it was normal for him, just another day on the job but she couldnt know that. "On the contrary it is not normal. But I can keep my cool better than you obviously." His voice was soft, he didnt want to offend her.
"It's late. You should really be getting home." He said, pushing his phone and the piece of paper towards her. "I'll give you a ring tomorrow or during the week, we can get together if you want and I'll answer any and all of your questions. But I do have to leave in ten minutes myself."
